About Artist 지희킴은 다양한 정서의 양상을 관찰하고 시각화함으로써 쉬이 소모되고 휘발되는 것들의 자취를 기록한다. 관습에 의해 정형화되기 쉬운 대상은 그의 작업 속에서 규정할 수 없는 열린 기호로 전환된다. 익숙한 듯 낯선 외형의 도상들은 현실에 존재하는 다종의 개체가 변형된 모양을 띠며, 주로 과슈 물감의 광택과 뚜렷한 색채로 표현된다. 작가의 화면은 나와 타자, 인간과 비인간, 삶과 죽음, 인공과 자연 간 경계가 허물어진 안식처이자 모든 존재가 어우러지는 역동적인 공간으로 기능한다. 주류에서 벗어난 주체들은 이곳에서 서로 겹치고 얽혀 복잡다단한 감응의 상태를 은유적으로 드러낸다.
Jihee Kim observes and visualizes various emotional states, recording the traces of things that are easily consumed and ephemeral. In her work, objects once rigidified by convention are transformed into “open symbols” that defy fixed definition. These icons that feel at once familiar and uncanny are distilled from various real world entities and brought to life through the distinct opaque luster and vivid palette of gouache. Kim’s canvas functions as a sanctuary where boundaries between self and other, human and non-human, life and death, and the artificial and the natural dissolve. All that exists outside the mainstream overlaps and intertwines, metaphorically revealing the complexity of resonance and entanglement.
