About Artist 김한샘의 작업 세계는 아날로그와 디지털, 현실과 가상, 삶과 죽음, 숭고와 키치라는 대조적인 차원들이 양립하며 교집합을 이루는 곳에서 형성된다. 당대의 디지털 문화 뿐만 아니라, 만화, 게임, 소설, 고전 영화, 굿즈 등 여러 갈래의 하위 문화로부터 참조점을 찾아내는 작가는 주로 둘 이상의 장르나 형식을 의도적으로 충돌시키며 그 속에서 발생하는 역설적인 에너지를 작업의 주요 요소로 삼는다. 가령 그는 2D 인터페이스 및 RPG 비디오 게임 형식의 이미지를 미디어 환경 안에서 생산한 뒤 이를 다시 플라스틱, 레진, 금박 등의 물질과 병합하여 현실의 시공으로 확장시킨다. 능동적인 리믹스와 이접의 방법론은 현실에 존재하는 기성의 서사를 뒤틀고 이를 새롭게 바라볼 수 있는 상상의 여지를 제공한다.
Hansaem Kim creates works that exist at the intersection of analog and digital, reality and imagination, life and death, luxury and kitsch. His art draws inspiration not only from the digital culture of his time but also from various subcultures such as comics, games, novels, classic films, and merchandise. He often intentionally combines two or more genres or formats, using the paradoxical energy generated from these clashes as a key element of his work. For instance, Kim produces images in the form of 2D interfaces and RPG video games within digital environments, blending them with physical materials like plastic, resin, and gold leaf to extend them into real time and space. His method of active remixing and grafting creates an imaginative space where existing narratives of reality can be twisted and reimagined.
