About Artist 오종은 주변 환경을 둘러싼 공적 또는 사적 지대를 넘나들며 끊임없이 가상의 추를 움직인다. 가령 실, 유리, 천, 거울, 철사, 조명 등은 작가가 해석한 무게와 질감에 따라 일시적 균형 상태를 유지하며, 완결된 구조물로서 공간을 점유하기보다 끊임없이 균형을 맞추는 과정 그 자체로 존재한다. 최근 그는 발 디딘 세계와 닮은 듯 다른 모습의 우주로 시선을 옮기기 시작한다. 현실과 가상의 경계에서 진동하는 작업은 미시적 구조와 거시적 구조가 교차하는 장소이자 제3의 공간을 생성하는 하나의 퍼즐 조각이 된다.
Jong Oh continually traverses the boundaries between public and private zones that shape our surroundings, setting an invisible pendulum of perception into motion. Materials such as thread, glass, fabric, mirror, wire, and light hold a momentary equilibrium, each responding to the artist’s interpretation of weight and texture. Rather than occupying space as finished structures, these works exist as processes in constant pursuit of balance. Recently, the artist has shifted his gaze toward a universe that resembles, yet diverges from, the world beneath our feet. His practice resonates at the threshold between the real and the imagined, creating a fragment that opens a “third space” where the micro and the macro converge.
