Eclectic
쿠어는 25SS 컬렉션의 테마를 ‘절충주의(Eclectic)’로 제안하며, 단순히 여러 스타일을 조합하는 의미를 넘어 결핍과 불완전함 속에서의 절충을 탐구한다. 2025년 봄, 쿠어는 이러한 컨셉을 바탕으로 영국 작가 아담 보이드(Adam Boyd)와의 협업 전시를 개최한다.
작가의 작업은 여러 이미지 변환 과정과 수작업적 공정을 거쳐 완성된다. 그는 디지털 라이다 스캐너로 촬영한 도시 풍경을 인쇄하거나, 직접 찍어낸 판화의 이미지를 활용한 다양한 천 조각을 패치워크와 퀼팅 기법으로 연결하여 추상 풍경을 재구성한다. 이 과정은 단순한 배치의 놀이가 아니라 서로 상충하는 요소들이 맞물려 새로운 형태로 거듭나는 절충주의의 개념과 맞닿아 있다.
디지털과 아날로그의 경계, 우주적 관심사와 추상적 이미지 사이의 관계, 질감과 특성이 다른 재료의 결합을 실험하는 아담 보이드의 시각은 쿠어가 패션의 의미를 해석하는 방식과도 연결된다. 쿠어는 일상의 다양한 요소를 결합하고 충돌시키며 패션의 경계를 확장해 왔다.
쿠어 성수플래그십스토어에서 열리는 이번 전시는 단순히 두 주체가 자신의 작업을 선보이는 것에서 그치지 않고, 각자의 가치관을 교환하고 공유하며 완성되었다. 따라서 이 기획은 패션과 예술, 디지털과 아날로그, 과학과 감성의 경계를 넘나드는 공감각적 경험을 제공할 것이며, 이를 통해 쿠어가 추구해 온 철학을 선명하게 보여줄 수 있는 특별한 장이 될 것이다.
The theme of COOR’s 25SS collection is ‘Eclecticism,’ going beyond simply combining various styles to explore compromises within absence and imperfection. In the spring of 2025, COOR will host a collaborative exhibition with British artist Adam Boyd based on this concept.
Boyd’s work is completed through multiple image transformation processes and handcrafted techniques. He prints cityscapes captured using a digital LiDAR scanner or reconstructs abstract landscapes by connecting various fabric pieces through patchwork and quilting techniques. This process is not just a playful arrangement but aligns with the concept of eclecticism, where conflicting components interlock and transform into new forms.
This exhibition, held at COOR’s Seongsu flagship store, is more than just a showcase of two creative entities—it is a platform for exchanging and sharing values. As a result, this project will offer a multisensory experience that transcends the boundaries of fashion and art, digital and analog, science and emotion. It will serve as a unique space that vividly reflects COOR’s philosophical pursuit.
