About Artist 아담 보이드가 주변을 한 폭의 서정적 풍경으로 옮겨내는 데에는 수차례의 이미지 변환이 수반된다. 그는 그의 눈과 지각이 한 번에 처리할 수 없는 정보를 취합하는 라이다 스캐닝 같은 디지털 렌즈를 사용해 도시와 교외 풍경을 촬영한 이미지를 선별적으로 가공하여 얇은 천 위에 인쇄한다. 다양한 색과 질감, 그리고 광택을 가진 천 조각들은 작가가 손으로 박아놓은 바늘땀을 따라 연결되고 추상과 구상 사이의 이미지로 재현된다. 그가 선택하는 패치워크나 퀼팅과 같은 공예적 언어는 불규칙한 이음매를 가지고 연결된 다중 세계의 구성 원리를 닮았다. 말하자면 자르고, 꿰고, 뚫고, 겹쳐내는 작업 과정 전체는 단일하고 매끈한 인식의 결에 대한 작가의 지속적인 의문을 반증한다.
Adam Boyd transforms images multiple times to reinterpret the poetic landscape from reality. Digital lenses such as LiDAR scanners collect information that exceeds what human eyes can perceive simultaneously. The artist uses those lenses to get images of nature and urban landscapes, printing them onto thin fabric. The artist connects fabrics with various colors and textures along the stitches to the output images, obtaining images between figuration and abstraction. Adam’s artisanal language, like patchwork and quilting, resembles the principles of composing multiple worlds connected through irregular seams. The entire process of cutting, threading, piercing, and layering implies the artist’s continual questioning of a singular and solid perception.
