About Artist 엠버 토플리세크는 직접 촬영하거나 온라인에서 무작위로 수집한 이미지를 유리, 구리, 납, 레진, 철과 같은 물리적 본체 위에 안착시킨다. 그는 조각난 이미지를 연결하고 하나의 이미지가 바깥으로 확장될 수 있는 구조물을 고안하며 정지된 것과 움직이는 것, 보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것 사이를 더듬어간다. 특히 초기 사진의 감광판이자 현대인의 시각 경험을 규정하는 스크린인 유리는 진실과 환영이 머무는 지지체이자 막(膜)인 동시에 시선이 미끄러지는 경계가 된다. 불분명한 시점, 흐릿한 색조, 희미한 형상들은 기억이 증발하고 응결하는 과정을 표상하며, 작가가 표현하고자 하는 인식의 영역을 넌지시 드러낸다.
Amber Toplisek works with images she either photographs herself or collects randomly online, placing them onto material bodies such as glass, copper, solder, resin, and iron. She connects fragmented images and devises structures that allow a single image to unfold beyond its frame, tracing the space between stillness and motion, visibility and obscurity. Glass, serving as both a photosensitive plate and a contemporary screen, becomes a membrane where truth and illusion coexist and the gaze slips. Blurred perspectives, muted tones, and vague forms evoke memory’s dissolution and condensation, quietly revealing the perceptual realm the artist explores.
