About Artist
김동해는 자연을 구성하는 물질과 비물질 요소를 관찰하고 작가만의 조형 언어로 재해석한다. 그는 주로 황동, 은, 철과 같은 금속 재료를 활용해 풀, 나무, 바람 등으로부터 감각한 리듬과 구조를 시각화한다. 금속 선을 구부리고 연결하는 과정은 서로 다른 존재들이 조화를 이루며 균형을 만들어가는 자연의 질서와 닮아 있다. 각각의 재료는 보이지 않는 관계망의 물질적 은유로 기능하며, 빛과 그림자가 이루는 미세한 진동은 사라짐과 영속, 유동과 고요가 공존하는 장(場)을 구축한다. 더불어 공간을 채우고 비워내는 과정에서 생겨나는 여백은 생의 기류가 은밀히 스며들어 작동하는 유기적 층위로 확장된다.
Donghae Kim observes the material and immaterial elements that shape nature, reinterpreting them through his distinct sculptural language. Working primarily with metals such as brass, silver, and iron, he visualizes the rhythms and structures sensed from grass, trees, and wind. The act of bending and joining metal lines echoes the natural order in which disparate beings find harmony and balance. Each material becomes a tangible metaphor for an unseen web of relations, while the subtle vibrations formed between light and shadow generate a field where disappearance and persistence, movement and stillness coexist. Furthermore, the interstitial spaces that emerge through the acts of filling and emptying the surrounding environment expand into an organic stratum through which the vital currents of life quietly permeate and unfold.
